Hey man I’m a welder and just so you know u really shouldn’t bend aluminum yes it works but it is stressed and is fragile now be carful don’t beat on it to hard. Also aluminum doesn’t rust so u did not have to paint it with primer endless u intend on color matching to the original color also the reason the gusset broke is cause u were pulling from the out side u should have pulled from the inside where the shock rides. I know you will probably never see this out of the other 6k comments but if you see it I hope it helps.

I’m sorry but a car that goes that fast you need to have the car straightened on a frame rack and laser measured before the repair! Jeez man! It also doesn’t address hidden issues. If you get maimed in a crash the insurance company will check the car history, see the sub par fix, doesn’t matter who inspected or passed it, and no payout! You’re a cripple with no money. Destination fucked. It’s like doing electrical work on your own house and it burns down.

In Germany you never ever would be able to get this car back on the road again. Frame damage is substential. By regulations, you or officials are not even allowed to "repair" it for getting it streetlegal again, because in germany framedamage is considered not repairable for safty resons 😂

Never in a million years is that car repaired, unless you take all the parts off and replace that frame section. From looking at a photo of the frame, it sure looks like you can unbolt. those pieces and replace them. Might be some welds in addition to the bolts, can't tell from a photo. Taking the entire engine out and removing most of the front of the car and replacing the broken part or parts, with a new and improved part would have been the way to go. But, as the insurance company decided, the right way to fix it would have cost more than the car is worth, thus, total it. That car can only be repaired by someone willing to invest thousands to replace that section of the frame. Not to mention what other parts of the frame probably broke when that corner broke, and you just can't see them because you did not take the car apart enough to see them. Might be other cracks in the frame at the other ends and even all the way across on the other side of the car. AND, Audi, screw the weight, use steel. Geeze.

in the uk that car would have been cut up , potential future safety issues . they cu t a lump out of the chassis and only sell parts , not allowed to e back on the road , just because its welded does not mean its fixed , just cos the crack is gone , does not mean it wont re appear some where else ,,,, all in all an interesting bodge , but it all has to be declared when you sell it , or the next owner is entitled to his cash back ,,, would i do it ,, yep , but im a coded welder and a vbra trained inspector ,, would i drive it , yep id do that too ,

I woulda put a floor jack on top the cracked area up there, put a pole from the jack to the ceiling support beam, and started jacking on it to push that area of the support down to close the crack. Just how I woulda thought to do it. Instead of pulling on that small hole, push down on the whole support to close the crack and not risk any bending or stretching of the related area.

7:16. You muppet. Even if you do pull that back its not exactly accurate! This thing needs to be checked by a laser level, plus Ali is difficult to weld, and even with a welded patch you're just moving the fatigue down the frame line. But it seems in the US you can get away with this and make the car road legal...?!

I once had an 8k miles06 Cherokee that a privately insured Waterways manager drove into a brick wall at 35 mph. He blamed the gas pedal. They wouldn't replace. I told them to go find one similar doesn't have to be new. They said nope. we gonna fix it. It had all kinds of frame damage that was computerized factory welded. They had a guy at the Jeep dealership weld the thing back together for 3 weeks. Cost them more than replacing. So I have a Cherokee that has been "factory" repaired. We drove it home and my wife said "Oh, hell no. My kids aren't riding in this thing."You could sense it was ever in another wreck it would collapse. Started making all kinds of noises etc. It's no joke, Be very careful in that thing. People are correct. You have no clue what stresses are on those fixes.
